Breast Implants w/Lift

(Augmentation-Mastopexy)

Breast implants with a lift, or augmentation-mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that enhances breast shape, size, and position by combining implants with a breast lift. This procedure tightens the skin, improves symmetry, elevates the breasts, and repositions the nipples and areolae, effectively counteracting sagging and restoring a more youthful appearance, especially after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss.

Why?

  • Improved Volume: Breast implants can restore volume that may have been lost due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss.

  • Reshaping and Repositioning: A breast lift can reshape and reposition breast tissue, and can also elevate the breasts for a firmer, more youthful appearance.

  • Enhanced Shape and Symmetry: A breast lift can help address uneven breast sizes, and can also resize and reposition the nipples.

  • Elimination of Excess Skin: A breast lift can remove excess, inelastic skin that may be contributing to a sagging appearance.

Women who have had children may benefit the most from this procedure because of the changes their bodies undergo during and after pregnancy.

Considerations

When considering augmentation-mastopexy, you should think about things like:

  • Goals: What are your aesthetic goals? If you're unhappy with both the size and position of your breasts, implants can restore volume while a lift can reshape them.

  • Candidates: Ideal candidates are healthy, within their ideal weight range, and content with their family size. They should also be non-smokers or willing to quit before the procedure, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Risks: Breast implants with a lift can cause permanent changes to your body, and there are some risks associated with the procedure: Capsular contracture: This is when excessive scar tissue forms around the implant, which can cause discomfort, firmness, and breast shape distortion. Other complications: These include reoperation, implant removal, rupture or deflation, wrinkling, asymmetry, scarring, pain, and infection at the incision site.
